Puppy Breath

Ahhh! Sweet puppy breath !! That is at least one thing I was looking forward to when we decided to get a new Rottie puppy. I am among those who love the smell of puppy breath, and relish every moment of it until, at last they reach the ripe old age of a couple months and that sweet smell goes away and is replaced by something much more foul and horrific.

So we bring him home, name him Samson, and I just want to huggle with him, hold him on my lap and smell his sweet little breath while he gives me puppy kisses. But will he cooperate, NO ! He is the most independent little puppy we have ever owned. He hates to sit on my lap. He always wants down. When he does sit on my lap all he want to do is bit whatever is closest to his mouth, and I do mean BITE. He does not just nibble, he causes pain and breaks skin (He is still only 6 weeks old). He will give the most brief of kisses, but then wants to quickly move to the ear and start nibbling on that.

Nevertheless, he is a cute little thing and I think he is going to grow up to be one of the most beautiful Rotties we have ever owned.

Since I first began selling my lampwork beads JustBeads.com has been my favorite selling venue. However, just before the first of the year they suffered a computer meltdown and have been feverishly working to get their site back up. Well, after alot of work they are just about there and are scheduled for their grand Re-Opening on Teusday, May 26, 2009. I wanted to share a few pictures of beads I will be listing on JustBeads as soon as I get re-registered.

So...
I had about 30 spare minutes on Sunday to peek into some of the shops at my new selling venue, http://www.lollishops.com/, and my gosh are there some lovely things to be found. I became especially fond of this lovely item.

I am so hopelessly in love with roses, specially soft pink/purplish ones like the ones seen on this lovely ornament. I found this Christmas ornament at http://wwwlollishops.com/andymathisartco while doing a search on Lollishops for "Christmas Ornaments".

This is a hand held mirror that the artist turned into an ornament using a copy of his own artwork. This would be absolutely perfect for my Victorian and rose themed Christmas Tree. On one side is the mirror, which will catch and reflect the lights of the tree, and the other this lovely rose painting.

Don't you think it would just be so at home on my tree, shown below ???

I am getting excited about the opening of Lollishops. Hopefully it will happen the first week of December. I am busy redying my beads by dressing them up, taking photos, cropping photos and generally getting them ready to post to my shop. Here is a sneak peak of one of the beads that will be sold.

How delighted I was this afternoon when my husband came home from a dentist appointment and brought me some lovely roses. He keeps an eye out for my all time favorite, called Oceana, which are a lovely pale pink on the inside with a mild fresh scent. However, on this trip the florist told him that these roses would rival the Oceana, and was she right.

These roses started out as a good size but as they unfolded they were even larger than I thought they would be. I clipped the stems and set them in water and within an hour they began opening to reveal the most glorious, large, almost cabbage rose appearing roses I have seen in a long time. They have a very pleasant, mild fragrance, very similar to the Oceana.

I don't know how much more perfect a rose can be. I had these little lovelies pose all sorts of ways for me. I must have snapped off 50 pictures, so it was hard to pick which photos I wanted to share with you, but here are four of my favorite.

A friend of mine suggested I put some sort of photo of me making a bead on my website GracefulGlassier. So, I decided to make a short video of me making a bead, and pasted it into the "about me" page on my website.

The only thing is that my web page is split into two columns, making it hard to see the whole video without scrolling back and forth, and I don't know how to change the margins so that the video will fit.

Guess I will have to dive into learning how to make those changes. Maybe some day next year I will have time, LOL.

For awhile I have had this butterfly in my "to do" drawer of lovely stuff. I finally decided to make a lampwork bead to hang from it. I was sitting outside on my patio looking at the cutest little yellow butterflies flying around in my fern garden and decided that I would name this piece "Fern Garden".

The pearl necklace is removable so that the butterly pin/pendant/broach can be worn by itself.

Naomi's Hope

This is a bead that I recently sold at auction, with the proceeds of the sale donated to a Charity - Naomi's Hope. The bead was named for Naomi, a little girl who was born in February of 2008 with a minor heart problem. At the age of three days old she was scheduled to undergo a minor procedure, and during the preparation with anesthesia, her heart stopped beating. It took them over 30 minutes to revive Naomi.

As a result of her heart not beating for that long period of time, with no blood or oxygen getting to her organs, she suffered brain damage and organ damage.

We, Naomi's family, are trying to raise money to get Naomi into Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) treatments. We have investigated this and have learned that they are using it to treat persons with traumatic brain injuries and autism, and it is having profound affects of healing.
